Moldova is a small country sandwiched between
Ukraine and Romania. It's number one export is women and over 450,000 women
have disappeared from Moldova with no trace. They are called the "engine
of the sex trade."
Because Moldova is the poorest country in Europe with
many people living on one dollar a day, there is a major orphan culture there.
Many parents abandon their children to leave the country and look for work
never to return. Many children are abused and then moved to an orphanage for
their safety, and hundreds of others are merely left at orphanages. If an
orphan ages out at the orphanage at 16 and is a girl she is usually sold into
trafficking within 24 hours. She is not safe and is hunted down by predators,
some of whom even contract with orphanage directors for the dates and times the
girls will leave the orphanage. 60-90% of girls that leave the orphanage are sold
and never heard from again and since they have no family no one goes looking
for them. They need a home and to be claimed and chosen.
So needless to say,
we feel the call to bring Light and Life of God's Kingdom to this
country! God clearly revealed to us that the girls will be our gift but this country is our
calling. We still have so much to learn, and we are eager to continue down our investigative path.
